Anonymous FTP allows clients to take advantage of the FTP protocol for visitors to their
website who need to download large files without a login or password for each visitor.
Anonymous FTP can be installed and uninstalled automatically.
Downloads for all!
Clients login to your anonymous FTP site by FTPing to
ftp.yourdomain.com. The login "anonymous" or "ftp" will work, and any
password is accepted. Once they have logged in anonymously, they will automatically view
the welcome message which you can customize. Users can then download any files which you
have made available for them to obtain anonymously. Anonymous FTP users do not have
permission to create directories or upload files, and can only download files in the
anonymous FTP directory. Finally, all anonymous FTP users are restricted to the area where
they login, and cannot move into any area of your website.
Multiple connections allowed!
Your FTP server will allow 6 to 15 concurrent
anonymous FTP connections to yourdomain.com, depending upon your hosting plan. Anymore
attempted logins for anonymous access beyond the limit will give a message that the FTP
server is full at the time. The table below indicates the number of concurrent FTP
connections allowed per account plan.
